Howard University General Clinical Research Center (GCRC) Information for research subjects The Howard University GCRC is funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to provide clinical research facilities to enable the conduct of high quality clinical research into important medical problems. It has a strong record of recruiting African American participants into clinical studies of cardiovascular disease, lipid metabolism, hypertension and mental health issues, among others. At any time, several dozen studies and protocols are ongoing in the GCRC.
